Doors could keep open in rainy days and winter.
Stardew valley keep barn door open.
If you find it a pain to close it it s actually better to just leave them inside everyday rather than letting them out and then leaving the door open although it will require more fodder.
You can leave them open and they will never be attacked by wolves.
Basically except during winter i leave the coop hatch open all the time.
Keep it open during spring summer and fall.

Close it during winter.
It s not just in winter leaving it open any night will make your animals unhappy.
So if the forcast for the next day says rain wait until the animals are all inside and close the door the night prior before going to bed.
That makes sense because they d get fed from the silo in winter thanks for the answer.
Original poster 2 points 4.
Always close the doors in the evening before going to bed.
Even if it s not snowing so unless you want to chance them getting eaten by wolves i d say keep the doors closed.
The total cost of a deluxe barn built from scratch is 43 000g wood 1350 stone 650 or if all wood and stone are bought from robin during year 1 69 500g and 175 500g if bought in year 2 barn animals may be stuck outside at night if the barn doors are closed.
My animals seem to get grouchy if i leave the barn door open even just when it s a rainy day.
The chance of large eggs milk feathers and so forth is lowered if you leave the door open.
I have to disagree harshly.

Doesn t effect the mood according to my 5 in game year observation.
Never said that quality affected the artisan good.
Haven t checked to see any.
They won t be killed though so it s not a huge issue if you forget occationally.
Leaving the barn or coop door open overnight does not matter at all.
That way the animals start inside the coop barn and can be cared for much more easily.
Making them unhappy will lead to decreased yields.
Leaving the door open will lower the mood of your animals if it s raining or in winter.
Aug 6 2017 10 42am i normally close it in winter for role play reasons as i expect it would help the heater be effective to not have the barn door open.
